Very young boy at school, I was punished when I drew in my notebooks. Now I am paid to do it. What could be better?
In 1967, Claude Viseur enters the professional life and begins in the cartoon at the Belvision Studios in Brussels. It was at that time that he chose the name CLOVIS (an abbreviation of his first name and last name). Always passionate about motor sports, he collaborates with several Belgian magazines. In 1974, he meets Jean Graton and joins his team where he becomes responsible for the realization of Michel Vaillant’s cars. He integrates the automotive industry and creates many drawings for sponsors, publications, and companies. In 1981 he left the studio Jean Graton to devote himself exclusively to illustration and in 1990 he created the company CAR-toon which edits and sells his creations in limited editions, postcards, posters and portfolios. Since 1998, he has been abandoning the advertising environment to better meet the demands of individuals and companies who want to afford a painting on canvas of their favorite car. In 2003, he meets Julien Garnier, the webmaster of “Tribute to Jacky Ickx” and, at the request of Jacky Ickx, Clovis publishes “Historickx” in December 2004. Member of the group Artist’Auto, he participated in numerous exhibitions in Belgium and abroad until his sudden death during the summer of 2018.
